What did we learn from the past?

What did we learn from the past?

The past is meant to be the place that shapes and paves the way for the future. In ancient times, there were no houses, and people lived in caves or under giant trees. Then, they began constructing dwellings from mud, wood, rocks, and leaves. Nowadays, we build houses using cement and metals.

In the past, there was no means to light our homes when night fell, so candles were created for this purpose. Over time, light bulbs were invented.

As time progressed, more tools, machines, and equipment were developed. During those days, many people were undoubtedly amazed by their creations and happily shared their innovations with one another.

However, at a certain point, some individuals became possessive and greedy, desiring to keep these innovations for themselves. This led to conflicts where people fought to retain their possessions or acquire them. This cycle seemed never-ending.

There came a time when everyone was primarily focused on their own interests, striving to be at the top or to possess more than others. Empathy for others seemed to diminish. When some were robbed, they sought revenge, perpetuating a cycle of violence and hatred. The world has witnessed numerous wars, including three world wars, along with countless conflicts within countries, among religious groups, and even within families.

Given this history, what have we truly learned? Have we gleaned any lessons from it? What actions will we take? Will we continue this destructive cycle, or will we seek remedies to break it?

Some believe that doomsday is approaching, a result of divine punishment for our sins. However, I hold the belief that any impending doomsday is of our own making.

I hope for a time when people come to understand the suffering of the past

A time when we can envision a better future for everyone.

A time when we cease fighting to take from one another and instead unite as one.

A time when we can live in peace and harmony.
